Series: Journal With Me
By Charmaine LaFondé
I’m doing a Bible study on women in the Bible right now, and Sarai has my full attention.
Bless her darling heart.
She ran out of patience and tried to make something happen when God had already made a promise. Which—let’s be real—means it was a done deal the moment He thought it, much less said it.
The whole Hagar situation? Didn’t have to happen… but it wasn’t a wash either. Redemption and consequences formed an alliance--of sorts.
And isn’t that just like our lives too?
Don't we sometimes grow weary waiting on promises to be fulfilled?
Do we lose heart by looking more towards the promise than to the one who gave the promise? It happens to the best of us.
The good news is, you don’t have to be anxious about missing the mark. Just keep shooting your shot until you hit the bull’s eye. It would help if you endeavored to sharpen your spiritual vision.
Not to go off topic, but have you surrendered it all? I mean, you sing the song and everything, but have you really surrendered?
I am thankful that God is too loving to let me fake freedom while still gripping the reins. How about you?
He wants ALL of you.
Not your routine.
Not your status updates.
Not your curated healing.
Just…you.
Journal Prompt:
What are you withholding from the God who sees and knows everything?
Who are you really trying to please? Yourself? Others? God? Anyone? Anyone?
